Former ‘European Inventor of the Year’
Getting in touch to offer one of Europe’s most successful entrepreneurs and former ‘European Inventor of the Year’, Giovanni Fili on the ‘Fururized’ podcast to discuss the evolution of solar energy, 10 years after he developed the award-winning technology Powerfoyle back in 2014.
According to the IEA’s Electricity 2024 report, renewable energy is set to overtake the world’s use of coal by early 2025.
What makes Powerfoyle unique? It is specially designed to power devices by converting both indoor and outdoor light into electrical energy, made of materials 1,000x more conductive than traditional solar cells.
Today, Giovanni’s company Exeger has printed Powerfoyle solar cells from their two factories in Stockholm. On your show he can speak about:
• Why signing landmark deals with 3M, Philips, Adidas, and Urbanista has been crucial in the race to develop premium solar-powered products.
• Opening a second factory last year, that is capable of producing 2.5 million sqm or 350 football pitches of solar cells annually.
• Overcoming the challenges of developing a solar cell material that can generate power from indoor ambient light, and be applied to any consumer product (headphones, TV remotes, bike helmets).
• Almost completely dark for a quarter the year, why Sweden is both the best and most unlikely place to find a solar economy.
• What needs to happen if Exeger is to achieve its vision of putting light-powered electronics in the hands of a billion people by 2030.
